Being A Lighthouse

I know I said I don’t write sappy posts but…

It’s so easy to get caught up in the daily struggles life brings and forget about all we have to be thankful for. I had a little nudge from God last weekend when we were given tickets to the Children’s Museum for something called Ava Day. I wanted to share the message because it’s really touched me and made me see my day through new eyes.

September 3rd, 2016 Ava would have been 5. But Ava passed away in October 2015 of a very rare bacterial infection. She had been fine the day before, and that morning she didn’t wake up. I can’t imagine losing a child in that way, with no warning, and no way to say goodbye.

So to celebrate her birthday this year Ava’s family and friends decided to ask others to be a lighthouse, an idea that came from one of Ava’s favorite songs, My Lighthouse by Rend Collective. They asked people to spread love and light in the world, like Ava did each day of her life. And they did.
